Every year hundreds of children and… 16 July 2019 A unique motivational project, created by volunteers under the auspices of the “Gift of Life” charitable foundation („Подари жизнь“) in 2010. Every year hundreds of children and teenagers, volunteers, doctors and everyone who helps along the difficult road from illness to recovery look forward eagerly to these games. Our team of 25 children set off on 3 July 2019, accompanied by the team of the Association “Children with Oncohaematological Diseases”, by grown-up young people who took part in the games in previous years and now travel as volunteers, by a doctor and by the ultramarathon runner Krasimir Georgiev. The plane tickets were bought thanks to Krasi’s initiative — 55 hours “Celebration of Motivation” („Празник на мотивацията“). 1,185 people took part in it, covering a total of 16,472.67 km by running, cycling, longboarding and skating. One of the largest Bulgarian banks — UBB, part of KBC Group — turned this effort into funds through its charity initiative Team Blue, donating a set amount for every kilometre covered. Our sports kits were bought thanks to the Arsenal Bulgaria fan club and their charity ladies’ match. That’s incredible!*” said Krasi. ![Photo for the article](https://decaohz.org/assets/img/news/48_media.jpg) Over three days, from 4 to 6 July, participants aged 7 to 16 competed in athletics, table tennis, swimming, chess, shooting and football. By tradition, the judging was done by professional sports federations and international referees — with, of course, the warm support of the packed stands. This year 500 children and teenagers from Belarus, Bulgaria, Hungary, Germany, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Moldova, Serbia, Slovakia, Turkey, Ukraine and Croatia came to the Winners’ Games. Russia was represented by children and teenagers from 37 of the country’s regions. Yet every single participant can be considered a champion before the start. They have already won their main victory — the one for life. Then came a concert and a disco. Over these three days children, parents and volunteers became one big family. A chance to learn to live anew. Our children brought home 26 medals for Bulgaria and came back charged with lots of positive emotions, new friendships and an even stronger belief in themselves.
