55 Hours – Celebration of Motivation

On 28 September Krasimir Georgiev set himself a new challenge, once again aimed at motivating people to pursue their personal goals, however impossible they may seem.

“I would like everyone to find their own dream, struggle and cause in life. My personal superheroes are the children who have beaten cancer, and my cause is to help more children get access to sports camps and events. That is why I am taking on my 55-hour challenge”, says Krasi.

The “55 Hours” challenge („55 часа“) started in Plovdiv at 10:00 on Friday, 28 September, from the Rowing Base, and went along the Maritsa river to the Tsar Simeon Garden, where a celebration of motivation went on for two days and nights. Anyone who wished could contribute to the cause, and all they had to do was move along with Krasi. All the kilometres covered were symbolically donated to the Team Blue initiative of one of the largest Bulgarian banks, UBB — to cover, through sport, the distance to the Moon and back — so that our kilometres could be turned into real money. After the end of the international campaign, of which the event “55 Hours: Celebration of Motivation” became a part, it became clear how much the kilometres covered by the participants were worth. More than 1,000 people covered 16,472.67 km by running, cycling, longboarding, skating and more. Their kilometres will be multiplied by set coefficients and turned into funds, with the bank giving one lev for every kilometre.

All the funds raised will be used for the First National Round of the International Children’s Winners’ Games in Bulgaria, to be held in spring 2019, and for the Bulgarian team’s trip to Moscow next year.
